Summary: The support of government programs has been a major advantage of doing business in Canada and a key component of the MapleWorks Technology Inc. (www.mapleworks.com) business model. MapleWorks has experienced significant success over the last six years. The success has been based on its location in Canada. Being in Canada has provided the Company with access to superior research resources; near shore presence to the U.S.; and economic advantages. However, these advantages of doing business in Canada have dissipated as globalization has emerged. In order to sustain a competitive advantage, the programs that MapleWorks has participated in need to be revamped taking into consideration the definition of innovation offered by the OECD as well as the suggestions made in the submission.
